Believe it or not, we use chemistry in our everyday lives. Without chemistry our lives would be monotonous, there would be less colour and it would be unhygienic.

At present we take plastics for granted, however fifty years ago the only artificial plastic to be found was a dull brown colour and was brittle. Today because of remarkable achievements of medicine and engineering made possible by chemistry, prosthetics rival natural limbs in both function and appearance. "Good chemistry makes the conveniences of the information age possible."

It takes a lot of chemistry to make a clean glass of water. Carbons are used to safely remove bad taste and odours. Water is the essence of life itself. "Good chemistry makes a clean glass of water possible and our daily lives safer and easier."

Everyone
wants their memories to stay forever, and with photographs its possible.
Chemistry is essential to manufacturing the film in all cameras. The chemistry
of film required a series of break throughs involving chemical solutions and
light exposure. In modern day chemistry is bringing the power of photography to
medicine, security and exploration. "Good chemistry makes special moments
in our lives possible."

Many years ago computers were the size of small houses but thanks to chemistry they now fit on our desks. It all began with sand. Researchers discovered silicon could conduct an electrical current. Chemistry is the link that makes it possible to transform silicon into the semiconductors that powers today's information society. "Good chemistry leads to minute object with a lot of information."

All modern
fabrics are easily dirtied which need cleaned. Detergents do this. Modern
detergents don’t contain bleach or florescent brightners. Colour safe enzymes
removes the stains and they don’t let the colour run. Chemists utterly do turn
your washing machine into a miniature chemical lab. "Good chemistry makes a
sanitary home and clean fresh clothes, possible."
